What is the physical reasoning behind a man ejaculating farther (such as several inches into the air) as opposed to only dribbling? And does this mean he is more aroused when he does this?
The key factors are the strength of pelvic floor muscles and the level or arousal.

Either way will get you just as pregnant. Some of the factors are the diameter of his urethra, the volume of semen that-s built up, the intensity of his arousal (which includes how long it-s been since he last ejaculated and how prolonged and intense the foreplay is), etc.
I think it-s so they are more likely to reach the egg. There is no reason for it when masturbating...

- How long (hours, days) since the last ejaculation.
- Duration of the period of arousal preceding this ejaculation.
- Extent of arousal...which gets into a million other things, like are you tired or refreshed, distracted, annoyed, excited, etc, etc, etc.
Its all highly variable. I-ve had times when I shot several feet and hit my wife in the face, and I-ve had times when there was almost nothing and it barely dribbled out, and everything in between.

It-s possible that he isn-t as -turned on- as another time. He could be dehydrated, have ejaculated recently before you saw him and hadn-t had time to -recharge-, maybe he was tired and not into it. Lots of reasons. Nothing to be worried about.
